Healing Old Wounds With New Stitches

The O.I.L.E. organization works with underserved and abused Hispanic women through Healing Stitches, a therapeutic program that offers social services, educational programs, health initiatives, and community outreach.

We partner with the United Way and other non-profit organizations to offer resources and assistance. As a United Way House, Healing Stitches provides a centralized location where individuals and families can receive wrap-around social services from multiple community organizations.

Healing Stitches understands the needs of its community, but our goal is to empower WOMEN.

Lucy Garcia received the 2023 Florida Lideres Award and is recognized as a Latino Leader in Lee County with other community leaders like Rafael Lopez and Ft. Myers City Mayor, Kevin B. Anderson.

Mission Statement:

Lucy Garcia, Founder and CEO of O.I.L.E./Healing Stitches, was once an undocumented Mexican immigrant, facing the challenges and struggles of acculturating to a new country. She also understood the fear of living in an unsafe home. Soon after becoming an American citizen, Lucy graduated with a master’s in social work and became determined to help those without a voice. Lucy’s dream reflects our mission at O.I.L.E./Healing Stitches. Our partnerships with organizations allow us to offer the necessary resources and services to empower women to become financially independent by restoring their self-esteem. Together we help women reach their potential.
